This Bugatti Chiron accelerates from a complete standstill to an astonishing 400 km/h — then brakes all the way back to zero in just 41.96 seconds. With former Formula 1 driver Juan Pablo Montoya behind the wheel, the entire run happens so quickly that it almost looks unreal.
Reaching 400 km/h is already extraordinary. What makes this demonstration even more impressive is that the car then has to shed all of that speed and come to a complete stop before the clock reaches 42 seconds.
From Zero to 400 km/h and Back to Zero
The run begins with the Chiron launching from a standstill and accelerating relentlessly toward 400 km/h, which is roughly 249 mph.
As soon as that incredible speed is reached, Montoya begins braking hard. Bugatti says the car comes to a complete stop after covering just 3.112 kilometers from the beginning of the run.
The full acceleration-and-braking challenge takes only 41.96 seconds. At the time, Bugatti described it as the fastest officially measured performance of this kind by a production vehicle, with the run certified by SGS-TÃœV Saar.
What makes the Bugatti Chiron so impressive here isn’t simply its top speed. The video demonstrates how acceleration, stability and enormous braking power all have to work together within less than a minute.
