This BYD supercar reaches a staggering 496.22 km/h, or about 308 mph, in a record-breaking top-speed run. The YANGWANG U9 Xtreme doesn’t just look like something from the future — its performance is almost difficult to comprehend.

Captured during a high-speed test in Germany, the electric supercar keeps accelerating until the speedometer approaches the incredible 500 km/h mark. At those speeds, the landscape seems to disappear almost as quickly as it appears.

Nearly 500 km/h in an Electric Supercar

The car in this extraordinary run is the YANGWANG U9 Xtreme, an extreme-performance version of the electric U9 developed under BYD’s YANGWANG brand.

During the run at ATP Automotive Testing Papenburg in Germany, the U9 Xtreme reached a measured top speed of 496.22 km/h. That’s roughly 308.4 mph — a speed normally associated with purpose-built racing and record machines rather than production cars.

What makes the achievement even more remarkable is that the U9 Xtreme is fully electric. Four electric motors provide enormous power as the car continues accelerating toward a speed just short of 500 km/h.

Watching the BYD supercar make the run gives those numbers some perspective. At nearly 500 km/h, everything outside the car rushes past at an almost unbelievable rate.
