This drone flying around a volcano captures an extraordinary perspective of an active eruption. BBC Earth Science sends a drone remarkably close to Guatemala’s Volcán de Fuego, revealing explosive activity that would be extremely difficult to observe from the ground.
The close-up footage makes it possible to see individual pieces of glowing volcanic material being launched through the air as the volcano erupts with tremendous force.
A Drone Flying Around a Volcano Gets an Extraordinary View
Volcán de Fuego in Guatemala is an active volcano known for frequent explosive activity, making it an extraordinary subject for this kind of aerial filming.
Flying a drone close to the eruption gives the team a perspective that would otherwise be incredibly difficult to capture. From above, the camera reveals bursts of volcanic material exploding from the crater in remarkable detail.
The drone flying around a volcano also captures individual glowing rocks being thrown high into the air, showing just how powerful these explosive events can be.
Seeing the eruption from this unusual perspective gives viewers an impressive sense of both the scale of the crater and the enormous forces at work inside it.
Why We Loved This Video
Volcano footage is already spectacular, but getting this close changes the experience completely. Instead of watching an eruption from miles away, the drone brings the viewer right toward the action.
The combination of precision flying, dramatic aerial footage and the raw power of an active volcano makes these few minutes incredibly compelling to watch.
It’s an amazing perspective on one of nature’s most powerful phenomena.
