This upside down hula hooping record takes an already tricky skill to a completely ridiculous level. Yan Yanjia hangs from a playground structure by his feet while somehow keeping an incredible 33 hula hoops spinning around his body at the same time.
It’s a bizarre combination of balance, coordination and core strength, and seeing dozens of hoops moving together while Yan remains suspended upside down makes the achievement look almost impossible.
33 Hula Hoops While Hanging by His Feet
Yan begins by climbing onto the structure and positioning himself upside down. Two people then help move the enormous collection of hoops over his head and into position around his body.
Then comes the hard part. Yan has to generate enough movement to get all 33 hoops rotating together while maintaining his inverted position.
According to Guinness World Records, he managed to sustain the hoops for roughly 20 rotations. The performance earned him the record for the most hula hoops spun while suspended upside down.
Even more impressive, Yan reportedly spent around three to four years developing his upside down hula hooping ability before reaching this extraordinary level.
Why We Loved This Video
This is exactly the kind of world record that makes you stop scrolling simply because the image looks so absurd.
Spinning 33 hoops would already be impressive. Hanging upside down would already be difficult. Combining both challenges simultaneously turns the performance into something completely different.
Strange, skillful and wonderfully entertaining, it’s another reminder that people will continue finding increasingly creative ways to turn seemingly simple activities into extraordinary achievements.
