In this brilliant clip from Frozen Planet II, narrated by Sir David Attenborough, one particularly grumpy-looking Pallas’s cat is hungry and searching for dinner. Unfortunately, being an adorable ball of fur doesn’t necessarily make you a great hunter.

Why Hunting Is So Difficult for This Fluffy Wild Cat

The Pallas’s cat, also known as the manul, is wonderfully adapted to cold environments. Its thick fur helps protect it from freezing conditions and gives the animal its unmistakably round, fluffy appearance.

But there’s a problem when dinner time arrives. Relative to its body size, the Pallas’s cat has exceptionally short legs. That compact build may look adorable, but it doesn’t exactly help when a hungry cat needs to move quickly enough to catch prey.
